So I thought I would run through just a few creative Australian individuals, businesses and bookish groups that I think you should know about.

Check out their websites, subscribe to their mailing lists, follow them on social media, browse through their stores, add things to your basket…

My favourite Aussie entrepreneurs

1. Nook & Burrow

My go-to online shop for beautiful, bookish goodies! Perfect for pressies or spoiling yourself (the candles and soaps are amaaaazing).

Run out of Melbourne by Kate and Simone, Nook & Burrow has everything a bookworm could ever want: bookmarks, tote bags, pins, candles, stationery, decor… all the things.

2. Tilly And Her Books

Tilly And Her Books makes the biggest, bestest, bookish bath bombs in all the land! I got the Slytherin bath bomb and it was like soaking in a bubbling, green potion. Peak Slytherin.

Tilly is a book blogger and youtuber from Western Australia who launched her bath bomb and bath dust shop in 2017. Bookish bombs include Hogwarts houses, Percy Jackson and The Maze Runner themes!

3. Bookcase Australia

A brand new subscription box with a book by an Aussie author tucked in alongside bookish goodies, all made by Australian creatives.

Bookcase Australia is run by Jordan and Mel out of Sydney. Launched in 2017, they release themed book boxes four times a year.

4. Book 2 in The Oremere Chronicles by Helen Scheuerer

My favourite YA fantasy of 2017 is by Australian author, Helen Scheuerer. Her debut novel, Heart of Mist (book 1 in The Oremere Chronicles) came out in September 2017 and shot to the top of Amazon charts.

Book 2 (as yet, untitled!) comes out this year and I can’t wait to read the sequel and find out what’s in store for Bleak and the gang!

5. The YA Room

The YA Room was Melbourne’s first official YA book club and they’ve become a huge success! Not only do they run a ‘book of the month’ program with monthly meetings but they also host other bookish events and run a book blog full of fun guest posts.

Run by Sarah and Alex, their first ‘YA Day‘ will be held at the Wheeler Centre on January 28 and there are so many big industry names involved – it looks amazing! Makes me wish I wasn’t based in Sydney!

6. NovelTea Book Club

Pairing books with tea (or coffee) – what could be better than that! Maybe the fact that it arrives in your mailbox every month like magic…

Angie (a.reader) and Jasmine (Novel Thoughts) teamed up to create the NovelTea Book Club. It’s a bookish subscription box that’s totally customisable: choose your story, choose your beverage, and choose a payment plan that suits you. Perfection.
